Ambassador Deng Ying Visits Kolding

On February 3,Ambassador Deng Ying paid a visit to Kolding. It was Ambassador Deng’s first visit to Jutland, where she was warmly welcomed by Mr. Jørn Pedersen, Mayor of Kolding. They held friendly conversation.

Mr. Pedersen wished the Chinese people Happy Chinese New Year. He gave a introduction of Kolding and briefed the city’s exchanges with Chinese cities. He hoped to further enhance local cooperation with China in fields such as commerce, education, culture, etc.

Ambassador Deng congratulated Mr. Pedersen on his successful re-election and hoped Kolding could deepen exchanges and cooperation with China at local level and make greater contribution to the development of China- Denmark relations in the New Era.

Later in the afternoon, Ambassador Deng visited International Business Academy Confucius Classroom (IBACC) and exchanged views with Chinese teachers and volunteers. Ambassador Deng, who as briefed by Director Xu Xiaoqing of the operation and development of the Confucius Classroom, encouraged further efforts in facilitating people-to-people and cultural exchanges and building up the bridge connecting two peoples.

    

In the evening, Ambassador Deng attended the ceremony celebrating the 20th Anniversary of China Association (Danish families with adopted children from China) and the coming Chinese New Year and delivered a speech. over 200 people consisting of members of the Association and their families were present. Ambassador Deng congratulated on the 20th Anniversary of the Association and wished all the guests happy Chinese New Year. She distributed Chinese New Year gifts and encouraged the children to learn both Danish and Chinese culture and become friendship envoys. Chinese Culture Center in Copenhagen presented a fabulous performance of Chinese folk music and acrobatics, which warmed up the crowd and won their big applause.

    

Kolding is the 7th largest city in Denmark and also an important hub in Jutland. IBA Confucius Classroom was jointly set up by Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance and International Business Academy (IBA) in 2015 in order to promote cooperation in the fields of education and culture.
