Xi Jinping Visits Plant of Volvo Car Corporation in Ghent

In the morning of April 1 local time, President Xi Jinping, accompanied by King Philippe of Belgium, visited plant of the Volvo Car Corporation in Ghent.

Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan, along with King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, walked into the production workshop. They toured around the show room and the production line, warmly welcomed by the local employees. The executive of the Corporation briefed Xi Jinping on research and development, production and sales of the cars. Xi Jinping and King Philippe unveiled together the 300,000th car to be exported to China.

The Ghent plant is Volvo's largest automobile assembly plant outside Sweden. The plant has enjoyed a steady growth in its production and boosted local employment since being purchased by China's Geely Holding Group in 2010.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others were in company.
