On Sept. 9, 2013, Premier Li Keqiang met with the Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Klaus Schwab in Dalian.

Li Keqiang spoke highly of the constructive role played by the Summer Davos Forum in enhancing mutual understanding between China and the world. He said that the theme of the forum "innovation" corresponds with China's development concept, and is guiding and forward-looking. China will continue to adhere to the general direction of prioritizing economy, development, and people's livelihood, and promote the sustainable development of the world economy with all countries.

Li Keqiang said that affected by expectation that the main developed countries will step out of the quantitative easing monetary policy, some emerging market countries have met with difficulties. But the overall economies of the emerging market countries are progressing steadily, with a more flexible exchange rate mechanism, and a significantly higher level of foreign exchange reserves. The emerging market countries have the ability to cope with the current challenges, and the international community should maintain confidence in this regard.

Li Keqiang pointed out that the recovery of the current world economy remains fragile, and once there is turmoil or even impact in regional situation, the course of recovery will get more difficult. On prominent hot issues, such as the Syria issue, the international community should abide by the tenet of the Charter of the United Nations and by the basic principles in international relations, to maintain the authority of the United Nations, and to strive to push problems to return to the track of political settlement. China is willing to work with all parties to strengthen coordination and cooperation, and to create a peaceful and stable international environment for sustainable recovery of the world economy.

Klaus Schwab said that holding the Summer Davos Forum in China is one of the most important decisions made by the WEF since it was established 42 years ago. At present, China plays a responsible role as a major country in the international stage, and WEF is full of confidence in the prospect of China's future development, and is willing to continue to work hard to promote a better integration of China and the world.
