Ambassador Deng Ying Visits Helsingør and Attends 2018 Happy Chinese New Year Performance

On January 23, Ambassador Deng Ying visited Helsingør and attended 2018 Happy Chinese New Year Performance as invited. Ambassador Deng was warmly welcomed by Ms. Benedikte Kiær, mayor of Helsingør, Mr. Henrik Møller, deputy mayor of Helsingør, and other senior management of Helsingør. The two sides had a cordial and friendly conversation.

Ms. Kiær briefed the social and economic development of Helsingør and its competitive sectors including culture and tourism. She noted that Helsingør is looking forward to expanding cooperation with China in fields such as culture, sports and people to people exchanges.

Ambassador Deng expressed Chinese New Year wishes to the mayor and congratulated her on the re-election. She noted that the Chinese Embassy in Denmark is willing to maintain close communications with Helsingør and deepen the exchanges and practical cooperation in all fields.

    

Later in the evening, together with deputy mayor Møller and other senior management of Helsingør, Ambassador Deng watched the 2018 Happy Chinese New Year Performance staged locally. Over 500 people watched the marvelous performance by Jilin Art Troupe with interests and enduring applause. After the performance, the audience lingered on to take photos with the Chinese artists.

    

Helsingør, a famous cultural and tourist city, is located in the northeastern part of Zealand. Krongborg Castle of Helsingør is the setting of Shakespeare’s masterpiece Hamlet. The annual Helsingør Shakespeare Festival enjoys a worldwide recognition. The Shanghai Jingju Theatre Company staged its performance in 2005 and received warm reviews.
