On January 21, Ambassador Deng Ying visited Bycirklen and attended 2018 Happy Chinese New Year Performance as invited. It was the first time for Ambassador Deng to pay a visit outside Copenhagen since she assumed her duty, which was warmly welcome by Mr. John Schmidt Andersen, mayor of Frederikssund and Chairman of Bycirklen in 2018, Mr. Karsten Søndergaard, mayor of Egedal, and Mr. Jesper Würtzen, mayor of Ballerup. The two sides had a cordial and friendly conversation.
The three mayors introduced the social and economic development of Bycirklen and the sister-city relationship with Wuxi. They looked forward to furthering cooperation in fields such as science and education, health care and medicine as well as culture and sports.
Ambassador Deng congratulated three mayors on their re-election and highly commended the fruitful exchanges between Wuxi and Bycirklen. She noted local level exchanges is an integral part of China-Denmark relations and the Chinese Embassy in Denmark is willing to act as a bridge to enhance local exchanges and cooperation.
Later in the evening, together with three mayors Ambassador watched the 2018 Happy Chinese New Year Performance. The artists of Jilin Province Art Troupe presented a spectacular performance and showed the charm of Chinese culture, which won warm applause and praise from the an audience of over 500.
