2016-08-24 17:44

Madam Deputy Mayor Larsen,Mr. Sørensen,

Mr. Frandsen, Professor Tao Xiping, Professor Yang Zhibin,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good morning! I am very glad to attend this conference on'Hans Christian Andersen's Values in Modern Education'. First, on behalf of Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Denmark, I'd like to extend my warmest welcome to Chinese delegation that has travelled all the way for this event.

H. C. Andersen has wide influence all around the world. His fairy tales are especially popular among Chinese people. Many Chinese children grow up with stories like 'The Little Match Girl' and 'The Little Mermaid'. As the home country of the great writer, Denmark has become a fairy-tale land in Chinese people's mind.

Friendly China-Denmark relations can be traced back into ancient times. In recent years, exchanges and collaborations have been expanded and deepened in various fields, among which, cultural interactions become the new highlight of bilateral partnership. Cultural exchange is the best way for two peoples getting to know each other and thereby becoming even closer. With his caring and kind stories, H.C. Andersen bridges our two cultures. Now, more and more Chinese come to Denmark, visiting the little mermaid and experiencing the fairyland created by H.C. Andersen.

This conference is part of H.C. Andersen Festival 2016, and has got active support from the Festival organizing committee. It will serve as a platform between our two countries for collaborative discussion and prospect of H.C. Andersen's cultural influence. I believe with the concerted efforts of both sides, cultural exchange between China and Denmark will be more influential, and our friendship will be further enhanced.

Finally, wish the conference a great success!

Thank you!
