Chinese Embassy in Denmark and the Danish Cultural Institute jointly held the Spring Festival Concert

On 28th January, 2012, Chinese Embassy and the Danish Cultural Institute jointly held the Spring Festival Concert at the Concert Hall of the Danish Royal Academy of Music. Around 1000 guests, including Danish friends from various circles, overseas Chinese and members of diplomatic corps attended the festive occasion.

At the beginning of the concert, Mr. Gu Hui, charge d’ affaires of Chinese Embassy and Mr. Finn Andersen, secretary general of the Danish Cultural Institute delivered their speeches. Then Shanghai Jazz Big Band, one of the most vitality jazz band in China presented 14 songs of which there were classic songs from “old Shanghai” like “Night Shanghai” and “Rose Rose I Love You”; there were Chinese folk songs like “Purse Embroidering” and “On the Top of the East Mountain”; there were also American song “Mack the Knife” and Spanish song “Quizas”,familiar among Danes. The beautiful combination of classic songs and jazz style brought a joyful evening and applauded by all the audience.

This is the 11th time for Chinese Embassy to hold Spring Festival Concert in Denmark, which serves as major part of the Spring Festival celebration and a good opportunity of bilateral cultural exchange. This year, Shanghai Jazz Big Band will present other 2 concerts respectively in Aarhus and Sønderborg.
