On May 27, Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Mr. Wang Xuefeng attended the opening ceremony of the H.C. Andersen International Art Exhibition, held at Copenhagen City Hall to celebrate the 75th anniversary of China-Denmark diplomatic relations. Mr. Jens-Kristian Lütken, Copenhagen’s Mayor for Employment and Integration, was also present. The exhibition, organized by the H.C. Andersen Culture and Art Committee, featured 400 artworks created by Chinese children, inspired by Andersen’s fairy tales.

Ambassador Wang Xuefeng noted in his remarks that this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark, as well as the 220th anniversary of H.C. Andersen’s birth. Andersen’s fairy tales are widely known in China. In 2010, Denmark’s iconic Little Mermaid statue made a memorable appearance at the Shanghai World Expo. In 2019, the arrival of two giant pandas, Mao Sun and Xing Er, captured the hearts of many Danish people. Over the past 75 years, vibrant cultural exchanges have served as a bridge of mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations. China looks forward to working with Denmark to explore new pathways for bilateral cultural exchange and cooperation, and to jointly write a new chapter in China-Denmark friendship.
