Embassy spokesperson answers question on Danish foreign minister's comments on Hong Kong
2022-07-02 01:23

Question: Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod’s alleged China appointed a new Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) who was not democratically elected and accused China of ignoring freedom and rights, international responsibilities and the principle of One Country, Two Systems? What is your response?

Spokesperson: These remarks from the Danish side constitute a blatant interference in China's internal affairs. We express strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this. The Danish side is in no position to make irresponsible remarks on a prosperous and stable Hong Kong where people are united and marching forward.

Today is the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland. Over the past 25 years, the success of One Country, Two Systems has been universally recognized. We are convinced that Hong Kong will surely create an even brighter future. No external force can stop Hong Kong from advancing towards continued success.
