Remarks of Spokesperson of Chinese Embassy in Denmark on Danish Foreign Minister's Groundless Accusation Against China of Cyber Attacks
2021-07-20 21:03

Denmark's accusation against China is entirely groundless. It is obvious that there is another pre-planned and coordinated anti-China campaign aimed at stigmatizing and demonizing China. We express our strong disapproval and firm opposition and call on the Danish side to stop the baseless and irresponsible accusation against China.

The United States, in violation of international law and basic norms governing international relations, has long been engaging in large-scale, organized and indiscriminate cyber theft, surveillance and attacks against foreign governments, enterprises and individuals. The disreputable involvement of the Danish intelligence service is known to all.

China is a victim of cyber theft and attacks. In 2020, about 5.31 million hosts in mainland China were controlled by about 52,000 overseas C&C servers. This has severely harmed China’s national security, economic and social development and people’s lives. Last February, as many as 830,000 IP addresses in China were targeted by cyber attacks, more than 70 percent of which came from abroad.

Cyber security, a global issue that concerns the common interests of all, needs to be safeguarded jointly by the international community. China has put forward the Global Initiative on Data Security, which calls on countries to oppose ICT activities that disrupt critical infrastructure or steal important data of other countries. We hope Denmark will join China’s initiative and make clear commitments on cyber security for a peaceful, secure, open and cooperative cyberspace.
