Ambassador Feng Tie Made Representations with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Regard to EU's Sanctions against China

On March 23, Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Feng Tie made representations with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs with regard to the European Union's sanctions against Chinese individuals and entity over the so-called Xinjiang human rights issue.

Ambassador Feng said that the EU imposed sanctions on relevant Chinese individuals and entity, citing the so-called human rights issues in Xinjiang. This move, based on nothing but lies and disinformation, disregards and distorts facts, grossly interferes in China's internal affairs, flagrantly breaches international law and basic norms governing international relations, and severely undermines China-EU relations. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns this.

Ambassador Feng pointed out that what the EU cares about is not the human rights of the Chinese people or the well-being of the Uyghurs in Xinjiang. It is just making use of the Xinjiang-related issues to interfere in China's internal affairs, slander and discredit China, and attempt to hinder China's development. EU's action has exposed its hypocrisy and double standards and reflected its Cold War mentality, which should have long been abandoned.

Ambassador Feng said that China's Xinjiang policy has been widely supported by the international community, including many Arabic countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. During the 46th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council, more than 80 countries expressed support for China's position in their joint or individual speeches. This is the majority opinion and the voice of the international community.

Ambassador Feng said the Chinese side has decided to sanction relevant individuals and entities on the EU side because they severely harmed China's sovereignty and interests and maliciously spread lies and disinformation. China's sanction is a justifiable and reasonable response and reaction.

Ambassador Feng urged the EU and Danish side to reflect on their action, redress the mistake and stop lecturing China on human rights or interfering in China's internal affairs. They must not go further down the wrong path.
